Information for Prospective Graduate Applicants
The University of California, Merced has funded Ph.D. positions available as part of a new NSF-funded Research Traineeship (NRT) program in Intelligent Adaptive Systems (Award 1633722). The program is an interdisciplinary collaboration between six of our standing Ph.D. programs: Applied Mathematics, Cognitive Science, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Physics, Quantitative and Systems Biology, and Mechanical Engineering. The aim is to train the next generation of scientists and engineers who will make breakthroughs in theories and applications of intelligent adaptive systems.
The deadline to apply is January 15th, 2017. The general application guidelines can be found at UC Merced Graduate Division.
If you are interested, apply to one of the six Ph.D. programs listed above. You will receive training and a degree in your home program, and your education will be enhanced with interdisciplinary training and research projects. Your degree will include a designated emphasis in intelligent adaptive systems (pending approval).
In the Statement of Research Interests that is part of your standard Ph.D. program application, include a section entitled “NRT program in Intelligent Adaptive Systems”. In this section, briefly describe how your research interests and educational background fit with the NRT. If you are accepted into the Ph.D. program you applied to, you will also be considered for the NRT program.
